Tea Party and conservative groups support Cliven Bundy, a Nevada rancher and owner of Bundy Ranch, in a grazing rights turf battle with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Normally, ranchers must pay fees when their livestock graze on federal land. Bundy's family has allowed their cattle to graze on federally controlled land for generations without paying mandated grazing fees.........To be clear, the Bundy family has no claim to the land which has been federally controlled since Nevada joined the union. That means it is maintained by the American taxpayer.
You heard that right. Tea Party groups are supporting someone who has used federal resources for his private enterprise without reimbursing the taxpayers. The anti-entitlement groups are saying Bundy is entitled to this?
Just in case it hasn't settled in, the Tea Party and conservative groups, who rail against abuses of government resources, programs and the 'entitlement culture', are supporting a person willfully shirking federal law and dodging his obligations. No matter how entitled he feels, Bundy is wrong. Federal law trumps state law, no matter what he thinks.
