Facepalm: GOP seeks to Abolish IRS

There was a time when Republicans were known for civil rights and progressive reforms. Now party leadership advocates the demolition of the IRS without a strategy to deal with the aftermath. Frankly, what kind of people are running the Republican National Committee (RNC)? Is the RNC run by complete fools?

OK, the IRS is currently home to suspected corruption and multiple scandals. Lois Lerner exercised her 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination, and there are many unanswered questions related to "lost emails". Not too long ago, President Nixon's presidency was rife with corruption and scandal involving "lost tapes". Would we now ask to abolish the Executive Branch, or would that be utter nonsense? Abolishing a revenue collection service without an alternative source to operate the daily tasks would be highly irresponsible.

Of course, "Abolish the IRS" is bandwagon hype intended to spark emotion in an already agitated voter base. It is a cheap gimmick with no teeth or possibility of becoming realized. We lose out on opportunities to tell a real story when we are inundated with such fantasy. Quite simply, we just don't need it. We deserve better. It is time to roll up our sleeves and raise the flag of Republican reform, not the white flag of defeat.

Will you join us to form a sane GOP? It's time we rise up and #ReclaimOurParty.
