It is time to dispel the misconception that Republicanism is synonymous with conservatism. Republicanism is a universal philosophy of individual liberty under which conservatives and liberals have equal protection. From the pre-Civil War abolitionist movement to the trust-busting presidency of Theodore Roosevelt, the Republican Party was a PROGRESSIVE movement. Conservatives AND Liberals who support individual liberty belong in the GOP (uncensured).

Those who perpetuate the myth that being a conservative is a prerequisite for being a Republican have no idea what being a Republican is all about.
